MDL Marinas is the first group to offer DockSafe fendering as an option within the annual berthing package for its 5,000 berth-holders across 16 locations.

The DockSafe fendering system, which is fitted around the entire length of the pontoon, has for many years been providing stress-free berthing to sailors and motorboaters alike. DockSafe has superior energy absorption properties which give total hull protection. No inflatable fenders are required during berthing - makes life easy for single-handed boaters and can save arguments with the crew!

In the past, some boat-owners have been reluctant to buy DockSafe in case they change boat or have their berth changed by the marina.

The innovative new scheme adopted by MDL Marinas removes these concerns and
makes life truly stress-free for berth-holders. DockSafe and its distributors Blue Marlin Marine have developed a partnership agreement with MDL to offer berth-holders an option to "rent" DockSafe on an annual basis. If their berth within the marina is changed, DockSafe will be fitted in their new location.

Tony Keeler, Managing Director of MDL, said, "It's our business to make boat-owners' time with us as enjoyable as possible. We know that many people find getting their boat out of its berth, and berthing it again safely, can be the most stressful part of a trip. With DockSafe this stress can be greatly reduced, leaving boaters to concentrate on getting more pleasure from their time on the water."

Sovereign Harbour Marina in Eastbourne has also signed up with DockSafe and Blue Marlin to offer a similar scheme. Andy Garland, Marina Manager at Sovereign, sees it as a means of enhancing his service to customers. He explained, "A small additional charge is added to the existing berthing payments. Sovereign arranges for Blue Marlin Marine to fit DockSafe. If a berth-holder is moved to a different berth, the new berth will also have DockSafe fitted. We provide the service - boat owners can relax and enjoy their boating!"

This scheme will also be implemented by Royal Clarence Yard at Gosport and is under consideration by a number of other marinas for the 2004 season.
